Biography Karl began working in the photo industry 8 years ago, running a custom black & white laboratory for professional photographers. During the summers of 1992 and 1993 he was a teacher of photography in the Visual Arts program at the Pennsylvania Governors School for the Arts and during that time, began exhibiting his own personal work. Karl moved to the Bay Area in 1995 and since then, has worked as an assistant to photographers while building his own business and showing his personal work in public exhibitions. Currently, Karl serves as director of the Crucible Steel Gallery which has organized 21 shows of emerging Bay Area artists over the past two years and continues with different artists every month. He is the curator of photography exhibitions and archivist for the gallery as well as volunteer documentarian for other community arts organizations such as Cellspace, Art and Revolution and the Illumination Project.
